East-Lapland

East-Lapland has emphasized the opening of Salla border station and development into the major route of the Barents area. Other major empahasizes are in electronics and mechanical wood processing. Goal is to raise the level of know-how and internationalisation. Tourism has developed positive especially in the Pyhä-Luosto region, but the number of tourists has increased also in Salla, Posio, and Suomutunturi.
